Why I Teach...

by Joe Cramer

The more I learn, the more I realize

What little I actually know.

The irony there always escapes me.

I wonder what's left, or where to go,

What to say, or how to say it.

I wish that I could make a change

Or even make a subtle difference.

Instead I go through the motions

Of shuffling papers and reading texts.

The, a light goes off, a thought process

Is stimulated, and all of the efforts

Are worth this self-imposed exercise in futility.

A mile wide and an inch deep.

Author's Note: I love teaching.... though it is often quite a challenge!
