HeartShape

by Trisha De Gracia

Sweet to bursting
cherry filled and full of song
a word
a delicate refrain
a phrase to lilt me out of life
and into something
better.

Your eyes trace the lines I make:
eight fingers and two thumbs
childish double-arc with webs for sides
a clumsy point ill-fashioned by my
badly chipped opposables-

I shift the shape so you can see
the form through both my hands and hope
that one of us, at least
will get the message.

Aawww...this is so cute. I hate the word cute because it carries such negative conotations...but I mean it in that sweet, naive, innocent way.
