[ january nineteenth ]

by Ava Blu

this woman walked up to me
and asked me to pull my hair back,
to lift up my bangs
so she could get a better look at my face;

she said, "you're hiding your beauty behind this hair"

and walked away.

Author's Note: I wanted to tell her yes, yes I am hiding but no, no it isn't beauty; it's this line of reasons to live away from everyone, to keep running so no one ever has the chance to tell me I'm ugly.
