El Niño visit by Keith D Allison
The whisper of white
in the cool of the morning light
shadows flowing blue
in this sea of white
El Niño has laid its weight
up on the high plains
of Colorado's front Range
the thermometer shrugs, to feel
a warm above freezing
the fence posts, longs
to once again see the light of day
the breeze, brings movement, upon sea of white
when the winds have howled
cattle, the deer and antelope, have paid the price
blizzards have made the cities, gnarled and crawl
buried in a blanket of white
again we sit by the window
watching as the snow falls
this winter's song
has made us all think of times
when Columbine's, will once again bloom
and the sweet whisper of warmth, will again fill the night 01/18/2007 Posted on 01/19/2007 Copyright © 2024 Keith D Allison
