Secrets and Lace by Megan GuimbellotThe sidewalks we travel are cracked and jagged//waiting/just waiting to take hold and tear//we walk in latenight, washed in halogen lights and strains of music spilling out of open bars//you sing softly, your words escaping in puffs of smoke and i want to gather them and bring them home like tourist souveniers.
The way your lips move is poetry and the look in your eyes is an old italian song.
Downtown the bridge lights shine against the river and lamplight throws shadows to escape to//the old painted buildings are peeling and the cold wind is helping it along//i want to show you the city from the rooftops, spread out before us like a postcard//you know youre dying to discover it.
The trees stand bare in the park but if you get deep enough in, baby you can see the stars//ill show you the best of this city laced with secret places and endless possibilities.
This city is our answer, darling, can't you feel it.
