Heart Filler

by Matthew Taylor

there was a hole in my heart that day,
she, my best one, my friend,
my lab went away...
the hole seemed to get bigger with each passing hour,
tears filled my house like a walking shower..
18 days later, a new friend became family..
it was instant love that rainy saturday morn...
she climbed up my leg, into my arms
a fresh love was born!
my Bailey, my chick-pea, my mini mouse,
my sweet..heart filler, you were sent from above
filled with love, to fill that hole,
not to replace, but a brand new sweet face,
my Bailey-Whale, we will be,
friends for a long time, you and me...
faithfully.

what a sweet piece! we never do replace but we create new spaces within us to love and in that, we grow :) this is very well written - great flow

Aww...and with every new love, there's a little glimmer of the one that's gone before. My Maggie-Mae fills my heart when my days are too long to bear. Thanks.
