Back to Start by Thomas K. HuntYou sipped from the cup of innocence
When you should have taken a big long drink
Now you live in your life of experience
Do you ever stop and think?
Circumstances beyond control
Who's the puppet?
Who pulls the strings?
Leaning towards the age of old
Stop, and think of things
The sun will rise tomorrow
Another day left behind
Staying one step ahead of sorrow
Running fast but losing time
There was a true understanding
Reveled from a heart one night
Through my eyes but much younger
Another one who sees the light
The soul still wanders
In directions lost from sight
So many crossroads
Hard to chose left from right
Tears from true hurting
Real pain within a heart
Missing what is yearning

Posted by Mary Ellen Smith on 01/14/07 at 01:37 PM this hurts...the pain and regret and the feeling of starting over...that line, staying one step ahead of sorrow....sets the whole tone. Great writing. |
