For Losing You

by Tony Whitaker

tortured soul
struggling to say
heart hungers
denial rules
my turn to pay
carrying on
this errant fool
for losing you

asking now
“what have I done?”
madly in love
desiring more fun
your heart sign beats
“keep out”
my mind screams
in desperate drought
for losing you

well built wall
bars love’s rout
commitment fear
kept me devout
all in vain
i face the pain
it’s time to go
for losing you

Author's Note: The loss of a love from fear of commitment. A Greek tragedy that plays 24/7 around the world.

You have hit the nail on the head here, Tony.. Far too many want the fun and fluff that comes along with a romantic high based solely on emotions. Not wanting to or refusing to see and grab hold of this very real fact. Love... true love... and by that I mean a love offered by one who understands the importance of intregity, honor and character is a love for all seasons, all chapters and footnotes in that book of life, here for the long haul, one that grasps the concept in the greater context of forever (until death do us part). In this throwaway society we all live in, too many believe the lie that you can simply toss away hearts like used gum wrappers when the initial thrill of the taste has lessened somewhat. Sadly what they don't get it this... there is a deeper flavor that will last a lifetime... aloha..;-0
