The View

by Tony Whitaker

"Get busy living or get busy dying.
You ___ damn right!"

-Morgan Freeman
- Shawshank Redemption

morning meditation
coffee spirits
vapid mind
sparkling a spring
of memories
spontaneous smile
looking behind

then witness
whence I was
loves and losses
cause to pause
ambling skyward
up storied mount
curious choices
force a break

life's lanes
weaves this snake
slithering to knoll
this steep trail
brands a body strong
sweat of life
from toil and strife
sates pounding heart
with joyful song

may a smile
you find
as you stop
to rest
if paths
we crossed
on your purpose quest
perchance I provide
vivid memory

rested content
on hill renewed
you rise
to stretch
then stride
creeps knowing smile
reliving a life
memories imbued
does your life
fill a view?
