Destruction Framed in Black by James ZealyStark images of symbolic distruction
Framed in black
Surround pained verbs and adjectives
Of a day forever etched
In Scars hidden from view
For a tearful moment
I relived that day
And I knew my son understood
What I felt
On that beautiful clear September day
When hatred of our way of life
Spewed winged terror
Cast innocent lives into oblivion
Left us raw with grief
Images now five years hence
Sketched amid the blue collar pathos
Of those who sacrificed themselves
To save those they could
Images at zero branded by
Fanatic screams of religious villification
For all to see
For all to see 01/08/2007 Author's Note: My son took my poem "A Bright September Day" and framed it with pictures of ground zero He took while on a trip to New York. He understands now what it meant.
