The Relationship of Vines and Trees

by Tota Longmire

I twisted him around my finger
Like a vine twined around a tree trunk.
Vines need trees to climb, for support.
Sometimes, though, the vine can
Become part of the tree each
Supporting, overlapping, the other.
He is my vine, as I am his tree
We each support the other
And without him there
Would be no me.

i love this idea of starting out as one thing, and evolving into something else: "Sometimes, though, the vine can Become part of the tree each Supporting, overlapping the other."
there's meaning in the simplicity. i really enjoyed reading this..
