collage work by A.M. Demarco
Keep your gaze set on the horizon
tho you are tempted to drop your eyes
to fold back in upon yourself
to crack open the tight spots
to push forward towards destinations unknowable
to be anywhere other than just where you are
Close your eyes and listen to that which surrounds you:
the hum of the electricity and the static of the heat
the footsteps in the hall and the tick of the clock
the lyrics of prophets, lost and found, and the laughter of our friends
the trickle of the river inviting you home with open arms
Allow yourself your god given right to exist joyfully
the freedom to smile knowingly

Posted by Cristy M. on 01/06/07 at 05:39 PM funny enough, this is my mantra when i'm doing yoga. i gotta tell you, though, it's way better put by you here than when it's running the track in my noggin. good read. |
