COMPELLED

by Tony Whitaker

working together several years
sharing lives and laughter
lacking love's fears

but now feeling more than a friend
forced we must
an acrid end

permit to make my reasons clear
desperate desire
to disappear

know each time as we often talk
at lunch or on
our languid walks

I
feel
compelled:

to gaze
to swim in ocean eyes

to brush
to feel thy flesh and bone

to stroke
your face and hear your sighs

to kiss
fierce lips escapes a moan

know this heart now beats imbued
goodbye my love
a fond adieu

for I feel compelled when near to you
no more this core
can stand the strain

or

compelled
am
I
to
go
insane

Author's Note: Another of those fantasy poems that I know, and see in my role as an HR Manager, played out in the workplace, over and over! Buyer Beware!

It is far better to walk away from tempation that would only be fleeting at best, empty at worst.... for the security and trust of a long time love and heartbeat waiting at home.. aloha
