They faced each other
On a cellular plane
Deep in cavernous vessels
Most often in organs,
The antioxidants ready
To neutralize each
Free radical,
Usually the battle raged
At night
The daytime consciousness
Oblivious,
The free radicals had time
On their side
And they knew age
Would eventually
Side with them.
