I forgot to remember your name.

by Aaron Blair

I find, for a second, that
I cannot recall how to spell your name.
Which should be hilarious, but
sends me into a mild panic.

Because I know that forgetting
the past is not the same as
unliving it. I will always have
these antibodies. I will never get
sick and I will not know why.

Immunity is a lie they tell you
every time they let loose the needle,
push the plunger down.

A part of me remembers,
patrols warily down the body's corridors,
always on the lookout for an enemy;
especially the one we once invited in.

Best imagery I've seen in a long while. Another stunning poem, Aaron.
