A Lunatic Night

by Tony Whitaker

a lunatic night
 to the edge
   we ascend
      guitars three
        a few beers
          we expend

         jamming
        for hours
      on an old
    rock song
  remember
T. Rex?
“Get It On (Bang a Gong)”

few things
  in this life
    beget
      such a blast
        LSD
    marijuana
  Pink Floyd
   Live
 done them all
in the past

but tonight
  we three
    found God
     in our fingers
     as we cranked
    on our axes
  Green and Kirwan
still linger

so until
  next week
    as we three
      play as one
          let's pray
        we are hallowed
     as we ascend
   to another
  lunatic night
in the Son

Author's Note: Ah, when you have one of those nights where everyone is in form! It just doesn't get any better and it pays to be thankful to the One! And I know someone will be offended by mixing religion with vices. Get over it.

Oh yeah! Get over it, huh? hehehe... loved this. I'm far more offensive than you, believe you me. Great stuff. Encore! Encore!

"Flow" is the stuff we hope for. When it happens, its sacred. A great poem came from great flow. There is nothing better.

i actually really like the mix of vices and religion, in my book they have run hand in hand for a long time. after all, isn't religion a vice for some? great write! can't argue with a night like that.
