"She Does Boo-boo, No-no" by Cristy M.I did something naughty
(into my coffee steam
a little wink escapes me)
rubbing out your index fingers
like a no-no toddler
like a kiddie caught robbing the cookie bank
it was in a time/space vacuum
it was on all twos and with all eyes peeled
it was all I could do to keep my nose
on the stone to keep momentum
it was all I could do to keep my ear
grounded to the buffalo's storming
that, whence it never came, kept
me occupied in being bad.
The little devil o'er my shoulder
made me do it (little red)
to the tip-tapping of his cloven hooves
to the sounds of my James Brown records
didn't ask me for no soul
since I gave it freely (gave Jimmy's
not mine, instead).
Such the man's world having been beat me
into submission, I couldn't
help but let a little
wink escape me, let a little
kiss fly from where it was to keep.
Shush, lady, if he hadn't known the better
then let him continue to not know
without need.
Shush. The only one I've
got to remind
is me.
I done something naughty-naughty
but only the little red devil on my shoulder
did see. 12/29/2006 Posted on 12/29/2006 Copyright © 2024 Cristy M.
