Hungry Heart

by Scott Utley

Your lips of wine taste so sweet,
Sometimes I almost never eat.
I forget to carry on,
I forget you are gone.
I really want to see you,
Really want to be you,
Shall I ever see your face again?
I fear, I swear I’ve spoke in haste,
Fallen deeply out of grace.
I wish I’d never left your place.
Are you living in my dreams?
I’m rather daft, at least it seems.
Can I ever carry on?
I can’t believe you have gone.
I’m so sorry I left you.
I’m so very sorry I made you cry.
I wish I’d never left your place.
Dear God, I miss your face.

This one is so vivid it actually hurts. Great writing, Scott.
