The Rejection Of Mary

by Charles M Harrison

I do believe that Joseph had family in Bethlehem, so have you ever wondered why he chose to stay at an inn. If you think a little about it the reason you will ascertain for he did not want to cause Mary to suffer more pain. Can’t you hear the conversation about his pregnant bride to be. And how it could have happened that a good man like he. Would still marry such a hussy who surely fell from grace. That did not have the decency to hide away her face. Now Joseph will be burdened with this weight like a heavy stone. His parents would not have arranged the marriage if they could have known. Just what kind of woman Mary would turn out to be. Unwed and pregnant by another what an embarrassment to see. But Joseph believed his betrothed and what his God had said. For he knew the old stories and the prophecies that were said. When his family told him we welcome you, but not that woman into our home. Oh how those hateful words must have cut him to the bone. I can see him shouting out loud we would much rather stay at an inn, until we have been counted and can return to our home once again. If you have read the Bible the Nativity story is no stranger. Maybe, just maybe this is how Jesus came to born in a manger. So now when you hear the story on Christmas day or night. I hope that you will see it it a new and different light.

You know, I'd never thought about that possibility at all. Just never occurred to me. Thank you.
