My Special Friend

by Tony Whitaker

What fate has wrought upon our lives?
Two friends so fraught with two desires.
For one a memory that mocks the past,
The other a fence towards greener grass.

But let me tell you friend to fear
In what you seek shall bring you dear.
For love comes not from the one you seek,
But from within, your peace will peek
And life will prove this prose I speak.

Oh, friendship is like the moon that glows
And love the sun that soothes the soul.
For a love will warm you when itÂ’s bright,
But I will guide you in the night.

Love is...always in the present, not bound by time or space like these bodies of flesh we do inhabit for this season...It is true what you speak of.. as no one can really experience the joy of love unless one first has love to share, from the inside out and not the other way around... nicely done.. aloha.;-)
