fragility by Ginette T Bellewhen we sat down in the crowded restaurant
busy and full of crouching disaster
i looked into the blue and leaned over
kissing my love with heated, hungry lips
and there was wine and green olives
roasted chicken that tickled the back of our throats
so i spoke and i laughed and i told secrets
that should not have been told
secrets that may have spilled onto the table beside us
and into unwanted ears
i said he was mean
i might as well have said he was the devil
but he looked at me and smiled like i was a weed
and, well, i am 12/21/2006 Author's Note: i talked badly about a lawyer at the firm i work at, in a restaurant and i was sitting right next to him and didn't know...funny and horrific all at the same time
