Wait for me
by Amanda Bullington"Wait for me."
Do you remember these
First three words I said to you?
How innocent I meant it then;
How much has changed in
Those words' meaning now.
At first, waiting meant a simple walk
Across the park together, as friends.
Then the beach, the box office kiosk,
The phone calls, and our desire. An
Ended relationship to which these
Words applied themselves.
And now we wait again, until winter
Ends and spring rekindles our emotions,
Waiting for the next three word phrase
To reveal itself in the form, "I love you."
And it's me this time, waiting, waiting,
Waiting for our next rendez-vous.
