So unexpectedly it happened
On this night of sorrows
Under balmy skies,
Hauntings from a time long past
A sudden jolt straight through my heart
A soul slap ...

Voices carried along the winds
Relentless in their condemnation,
Beat against the truth
The truth of you and me,
Standing here, I press toward that familiar veil
Draping past the edge,
How I want to step on through
And bask ...

Tho' the time is yet to be
Dare I admit this need within,
This desire to be loved ...

Confront the weakness I perceive
So very blatantly
Right in front of me,
Refractions in my face still mocking
Churning in those shadows,
Parallel shifts
Dare I even believe?
This sounding in my heart
Yearning for your truth ...

This feeble attempt
Yet can I acknowledge?
Even to myself,
Longing fuels my fire
So long denied ...
