Death & Taxes by Tony Whitaker
Finality beyond your comprehension
For one ends only when the other begins.
One paid with sweat
The other, a final breath
What then?
What is life without taxes?
Payment for a privilege
To walk among the living
More privilege
More payment
For what is there in life without death
Always looming on the horizon
Waiting
Watching
Calling.
Then?
The End.

Posted by Cassandra Leigh on 04/03/07 at 11:17 PM The question marks have a really neat open-ended effect. Sort of leading the reader toward your conclusion without driving it home really... i think it works even better that way. Sort of like George Orwell. Nice job! |
