Downcast

by Alisa Js

She walks along a lonely beach
On a moonless night,
Lets her hair fly free
Raven tresses brush past her dampened cheek,
No smiles tonight
No more thoughts about what's wrong or right
She just had to get away,
To parts unknown
Where it's quiet and she can stop the bruising
While her heart beats blue
Ripped in two
Crushed and torn, but
Still beating
A little bit, anyway ...

Gentle lapping on the salty sand
Calling for her company,
Curious
She turns,
Did someone say her name?
Her footsteps now sinking fast
Towards that aquatic land,
As she makes her way without a sound
Reduced to nothing more
Than some misty memory
Who walked along these shores,
As her head slips low, far below
Those shimmering waves as they whisper,
Soft
Somewhere on that beach,
That lonely beach
Where nobody sees
And not many care to go ...

Darkness hovers in the midst
Obscuring that path once seen,
Of those footsteps as they made their way
Into the calling sea,
Curious eyes from parts unknown
Wondering,
About this angel face, sad
Why, Oh! why?
Did she choose this path to exit life?
Downcast,
So quiet there as she lies...

Why so sad? Beautiful piece needs and ending

I think I need prozac after reading this. Anyone have a .38 special. Actually, I liked the meter and the occasional alliteration. But sad!

You make walking on the beach such a depressing scene. Although I guess it would be a place where one would be lonely, and in deep thought about that state of mind. You convey that very well to the reader.

I agree, with T. Just that last line and then It'll be just perfect :)

I like that

I take that back, this one is definetly my favorite. I felt this slow bluesy rhythm as I read those lilting lines and what imagery! Very, very sensual to me all the way to her demise! Well done ALicia Js! I might try to put this one to music.
