The Child by Joan SerratelliThe baby was conceived
out of love
but when her father
found out; he threw a fit
who would support this child
the young father who could not
even support himself?
Or would it be the mother who
was only a kid herself
The baby would be born
with love, somehow, someway
money would come
and the child would be brought up
with a sense if itself
The father would learn
to support his child-
to put the child's needs
above his own
The young mother would learn
to be a mother herself
to love, to nurture
to know when to ask for help
and to accept what was offered
The child would be loved
and in the end; after all
the fighing and screaming was done
the child was a blessing
for everyone 12/15/2006 Author's Note: What else is there to say?
