The Banquet by Alisa Jshaving feasted at those certain tables laden
at this banquet we call life,
partaking of those certain pleasures
sometimes gorging,
I won't lie
satisfied
or so I thought
until once again
I found myself yearning for that certain taste
the one I thought I'd found
on the other side of daybreak ...
I have stumbled through forgotten lands
of laughter, smiles and frowns,
wandered past that darkened valley
filled with ghosts and silent screams,
to purge myself from misbegotten
dreams or visions
chanting in my pounding head,
vowing never again to splurge
at those tables laden ...
a fool I was
there to my heart
chasing after empty dreams,
the ones I thought for certain
I could surely change ...
wisdom came to visit
somewhat unexpectedly,
stayed all through my darkest days
through excruiating pain
and left with me a mystical key
the one I now possess,
in everything there is a season
a harvest and a dream,
one that waits so patiently
one very few have seen ...
this garden
there beyond the view
pristine and full of promise,
for those certain ones who've paid the price
who understand that empty mauling ...
carefully
we find our way
upwards towards that Eden,
take my hand, won't you?
we will celebrate the bounty
feast again at that banquet,
only this time,
just for you and me ...
