i'd like to change my name
to emilia, instead of emily
to make me sound
more exotic and sophisticated

i'd like to read heavy books
with tiny print
etched in the paper
with the sentences half a page long
nodding subtly to show
i understand

i'd like to write lengthy essays
regarding international conflict
or epic novels
about intellectual struggles
on napkins at a coffee shop

i'd like to change my name
to emilia, instead of emily
to make me sound
more exotic and sophisticated
to make him think i am intelligent
to make him think that he loves me
