games

by Peter Humphreys

at the end
of our garden
once
lay
a
deep
dark
dank
forest
labyrinthine
green
our kids
would play
there
in and out
as I cried
and
you did shout
I know that
they were safe
within the bosom
of their play
at hide and seek
when parents' play
much deadlier
games

Hi Peter. I was always thankful they were safely tucked away or occupied when the worst bits were going on. I can relate. Thanks.

A surprising piece, insightful and true to life, great atmosphere for the children, with much rich lush hideaway feeling, while the ending... very well introduced in few words... intense. Impressive.
