4:57 AM

by Elizabeth Seago

I've been awake since 12 PM on 12/11.
It's currently 4:57 AM on 12/12.
This may or may not be important to note.
I was taking my dog outside
To pee.
(Or poop. It's his decision, really.)

I was staring up in wonder at the
Moon
Which was shockingly bright,
when I heard a door shut.
I cannot recall
Wether it was slammed
Or was closed carefully.
Anyway... A woman ( a young woman. early twenties, maybe?)
Exited the house of my neighbor
( also relatively young, maybe mid twenties.)
Whom I know is a male.

Her shirt was oversized,
Possibly covering up shorts she could have been wearing.
Although I was convinced
That she was wearing absolutely nothing underneath,
and
That the shirt was oversized because it hadn't belonged to her.

Either way, the thing I cannot recollect
Which I lament the most
Is
Her
Face.

I couldn't help but wonder if she was sporting a
joyful expression,
Or one which would surely inflict a clean break upon the heart which peered in her general direction.

I couldn't help but wonder if she was
Giddy
or
Tediously guilt-ridden.
Wether she was going to
Call her best friend and
Gossip about the
Great fun she'd had,
or if she'd consult her
Journal instead.
(It's pages encompassing thoughts she wouldn't dare verbalize to another soul.)
Jotting down something along the lines of
"How worthless!"
She felt.
(Yet she'll probably be at the same place this time tomorrow.)

I really do hope she can come to terms with the silly conflicts in her head soon, though.
This way she can
"Stop!"
Projecting her problems
Onto strangers.

Haha.

A wonderful stream of thought observation on your part, here. And I do wonder, the same things that you do. Nice work... I will have to read more!
