Little Girl Sad

by Alisa Js

She was a little girl sad with bright eyes of blue
So compliant and shy
Yet kept out of sight,
Life carried on as before,
With the hustle and bustle of this hectic, rushed world
Who has time for real reflection, anyway?
With two parents working to make frayed ends meet
And then a daughter born
To blossom and grow,
So determined they were
To give her all they never had
Back when they were growing up
Back when they were young

See the cycle repeat without resolution
Seasons change
Yes
But nothing new,
If we don't wake up before it's too late
As the world churns again on its axis
Yawning

Little girl sad watched her mommie drive away
Morning to evening
Sunrise and sunset
Always the same thing,
Never changing
Her eyes filled again with that familiar soul ache,
Lonely tear filled face straining hard
For just one more glimpse
If she could
See this mother she loved
But hardly knew
Just one more look
As she heard the car roar off

In another time and space
Sat a mother, drinking her morning tea
An unexpected phone call startled the quiet
Quickly the mother arose
To make her way towards
That vision in pink, cotton candy
Sleeply nearby
Quietly she leaned over and smiled
A silent heart prayer up to the heavens,
Thank God!
This cycle stops now!
No more pressing tear stained faces against glass
My family and children come first
In our universe,
This love of my lifetime
I've always wanted and craved,
My husband, my children, my life

The noblest of goals. I salute you.

I don't like using the word heartfelt, but I think that definately applies here. This is great.
