autumnal

by Cassandra Leigh

cold air in the coffee-shops and
i (cut my ties with august)
am awakening

shedding falsities but growing into the
circular words of a Hallmark christmas
(come early again)
gaining momentum despite
cracked hands from splitting heartwood
as summer rains down.

i (lost a few windowpanes in
slamming the door on insecurities)
am a time machine

(this is the same air they breathe in boston) as

november deepens in
anticipation
a transition into vitality
and i am growing with the season
shedding summer lethargy

finding my redemption

no wonder you liked my poem so much...your style feels a shade like mine. scattered, but fluid, direct, but not without interpretation. i really liked this piece on autumn even though i tend to write about romance & garbage like that alone. ;) anyways...impressive write for sure. i must see another to get a true feel for your creative mind. hidden pathetic gem!
