lately, my life by Emily Davidsonlately, my life
a combination of things:
mostly
cups of coffee,
cigarettes,
bagels at 6am on saturday,
the new york times crossword puzzle,
dirty hair,
warm coats;
sitting there
with him
the morning after
before the night has ended
the sun creeping up on the horizon
he asks me
if i know 23 across
and i look at it, confidently filling in the letters:
"stickinthemud"
and we both smile
romance is overrated.

Posted by A. Paige White on 12/06/06 at 02:58 AM hehehe... mmmm.... I thought this was romance. That, or scurrying around outside so late it's early in your fuzzy robe (that your daughter makes fun of because it's almost as old as she is)and slippers together, so cold your knees are knocking to hang new multicolor lights in a heart shaped pattern.... or maybe to sit in an old pickup truck and hold the brake while your crusty partner in rhyme shifts it with a wrench into gear... isn't that what romance is? |
Posted by Anya Kaats on 12/06/06 at 05:57 AM you and your poems about cigarettes and coffee.
and i think hes the only one who doesnt think this is romance. |
