Gay Men

by Elizabeth Seago

"Fabulous!"
She was raised by a horde of
Primial beasts that
The bapist church
On top of the hill across from the school
Were terrified of.
Their laughter
"Signified the fall of Christianity"
Knowing this,
They laughed louder
Harder
And for moreextended peroids of time.
Their navel bearing shirts
And uncomfortably tight pants
Made some sick
But it always brought her a sense of calm.
Their oversized sunglasses
Made her feel at home.
Those lisps
Were nothing short of beautiful
"Before you start casting stones at us, love
For our confidence which you jealousize
I'd think twice
About wearing that shirt with that tie!"
Ah, yes.
The homosexual retort.
If they can have their own agenda...
Did you really think comebacks would be an issue?
Lipgloss was a regular
Eyeliner was no to-do
"Honey you CANNOT wear that dress
If you're even THINKING about wearing those shoes!"
All in all
Everyone else was jealous
They were free
From modisty
And your stupid society
I couldn't be more thankful
For being raised
By the most dismally gorgeous people God had created.
Outside and in.

For those who face the most opression Those who face the most transgressions
Are the beautiful.

Author's Note: I am a gay man trapped in the uncomfortable confines of a womans body. From the time I was eleven I was raised by gay men. I say this because all of my friends were significantly older than me (18,19,20) and took it up the bum. And oh, how I do love them for making me so refined. [=

I loved this. A lot. And I want to say, you're not alone out there.
