A Poets Song

by Alisa Js

Wrapped around this heart of time
Beats a song yet to be sung,
In the fullness of all we can be
And all that ever was,
And tho' we may be somewhat worn for wear
The notes are still in key,
Carried along by hushed whispered thoughts
Familiar melody,
Regardless of creed or tongue
Remains the same throughout the ages,
Weaving tapestries alive in the noonday sun
Monuments for all to read and stand in awe ...

For we recognize the blend of those shaded hues
That binds us all and gives us pause as we carry on,
Ever vigilant at the ready,
Soldiers we, in this shared crusade
On the frontline and we must agree,
If we succeed, it's because of you and I
But not alone,
For an army we've become,
Marching onward, ever forward
To reach that rising sun,
So we can take our turn to bask in victory,
Knowing that together
We stay strong
Memories replete,
We save them everyone
So tenderly,
And savor sweet our celebration feast
Enjoyed by all who know this song,
Every note
And every key ...

You suggest by implication the universal song of humaness at its best. Also, by implication there are those who live but are never quite alive to that universal song that uplifts. Thought provoking.
