Snow

by Alison McKenzie

Father Sky is heavy with child
His season of Winter bearing powerfully down
Upon gravity’s deliverance of
Countless fraternal offspring -
The latent, fertile expression of
Life’s most sacred cycles.

Infant flakes tumble obliquely into view,
Blanketing everything with the amazing luminosity
Of immaculate perfection -
Frigid ejaculate of Nature’s throbbing finale
Come to remind us that
Even Death can be Divine -
Purity wrought from the pangs of Heaven’s labor.

And so I observe that
Life and Death are confluent tributaries
To the ALL THAT IS -
The One World of
Unified experience;
Within and without time,
Within and without season.
