The Links We Cast by Maria Terezia Ferenczmired in our pasts moored to our future
with chains of guilt built link by link
of happenstance so carefully crafted
unintention accidently forged cruelty
while the steel of our love was malleable
considering these chains we forged
I am forging still
in the dark of night I hammer
no one hears the crash
of my heart
hammering
hammering
hammering
at these cruel links
our steel lies
long hardened
impossible to taper steel so cold
working hard to control my blows
to no avail our chains too strong
I yearn to heat this cold cold steel
turn it back to yellow hot burn
reform the links we cast 11/26/2006 Author's Note: Do you forge links, or are they cast? I do not know. No blacksmith am I, my only anvil is my mind.
