crippled

by Peter Humphreys

she struggles
down steps
deep into
the moving train
timid
hesitant
eyes
down
cast
asking to sit
hips
bad broken
stomach blown
her smile
nothing less
than sublime
if I could
I would
have talked
with her
and shared
the loneliness
of deformity
for her eyes
and her face
were
beautiful within
transforming without
as I fly home
I think of her
and wonder
would she
marry me
for I too
am crippled
by life

Hi Peter. "for I too am crippled by life" is the warmest conclusion and the most beautiful vision possible here. I hope it's catchy. Excellent, my friend.
