off the wall

by Vere Mantratriad

I was a fly laying eggs in your decay
but still, not the waste, though I've
known myself to lay and make my home
all around it for other's amusement
but it's not the answer nor is it the
question that I'm asking myself as I'm
flitting back and forth from one corpse
to the next as my fascination flows from
still-life to activity catching my fancy
and I devise such plans to incorporate
myself into a world that all of my
eyes focus on all at once but I do
find myself distracted easily by refuse
still, I may manage to continue buzzing
until seen swatted by some new hand
