It is a very short trip to the backyard by Shirin SwiftThe shapes of your tears:
very near to stones in a Zen garden
I reach to stroke them with my rake only to make
a path or a bridge to your sadness;
It is for my compassion's sake, I care
but do not care if you do not see
what I am trying to do.
This time, I am the other. And glad for it. 11/15/2006 Posted on 11/15/2006 Copyright © 2024 Shirin Swift

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/15/06 at 05:37 PM I love the image, obviously-- the idea of stroking with a rake, as done in the zen garden, (and the tears like stones). It is very fine and really comes across here. In a startling but perfect way. Yes. |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 12/16/06 at 10:49 PM Shirin, how beautiful this is. One lady I saw all the time (where I lived before) had a Zen garden. I've always wanted one for myself, since they are so wonderful and soothing, just like the emotions behind your words. I'm just afraid my cats would like to play in it too. ;-)
