feasting on my faults

cannibalizing

your kindess, i’ve been

reckless with gifts

of time

talent and tongue



i avoid smoke

from your cigarette that

is blown

in my direction

by wayward winds

just like you

were once

realizing this moment

i’m avoiding

much more

	truths of a broken life

	fears of an impossible dream



your hands

and words reach

out for me

relentlessly

loving

and i’m

desperate 

	to stop

	avoiding them

		to kill 

		cancerous memories

		that keep me

		trembling like a child

		in this corner

			to rest

			in you alone

			and always
