Watching from r@@ftops
Drawing near to give us dreams
Blowing away chaff

The picture Jarrod drew in "Accipiter's Delight"

"Mom! I gotta tell you my dream!"
Excitement exuding from each pore
"You'll never believe this!"
Then from a dream, told me what had gone before.

"I dreamed the dogs were starving to death
Boy, you were mad! And I was rushing to get them fed
Glancing right, I couldn't catch my breath.
There perched an angel on the roof over your bed!

His eyes whitely glowing, he never looked right at me
But I know, he knew I was frozen there
To believe those abs, you'd have to see
Couldn't see the face, in some kind of shadow, I swear!

If you don`t believe me, here`s you some proof."
So looking down at his drawing in shock and dismay
I had to face it, nope, no way escape the truth
That creature was here and saw everything yesterday!

No way my son could know! And to see it in a dream?
"I didn't get the wings right, but the eyes, I caught the gleam
And his talons were long and strong and razor sharp
Ain't no way he could play some old harp!

The feathers were white, but nothing like the eyes
He turned his head , searching north, south, eastÂ…all the skies
It's like he was there to protect and watch over you!"
My face was flushing now and I knew it was true.

It saw my temper, muttered curses, angry stomping feet.
Where's the backspace key?
Boy if I could just delete
My tantrum yesterday.

It started with the kitchen garbage can
Overflowing on pickup day.
Nobody does a *** thing around here but me!
Character assassination? I did it well, I'd say!

I vented all my disgust, everything, far and wide
As I hauled the trash out the door
Late for work again, time not on my side.
*** dogs starving, is it such an effing chore?

The whole scene replayed in my mind
When I saw him perched upon that line
Magnificent accipiter, still as stone.
Gentle reminder, I'm never alone.

Stately his visage, sentinel alert,
Suddenly I know he's sent to avert
My penchant for pacifistic decline.
I know that I know, when I saw him the second time.

Mighty in flight, disdainful almost
Of the half a dozen lesser birds
Flying, attacking this sentinel of the Holy Ghost.
Reminder! Reminder! Watch your words!

I can show your heart to any in a dream
Now share this work and share it true
The teacher's brilliant theme
was not prepondered just for you!

Author's Note: The single most shocking spiritual awakening (to the actual presence of the angelic)I've experienced so far. It was a doozy...
