fade

by Maria Francesca

slowly I fade
year by year
wracked with confusion
and riddled with fear

gracefully glide
silently slip
into the twilight
and out of your grip

gently I wither
week by week
too weary to move
and too stupid to speak

meekly I melt
sweetly I swoon
weak as a kitten
and pale as the moon

eager I exit
day by day
packing my mind up
and moving away

watch as I leave
and know as I do
this morning it's me
but tomorrow it's you.

Very fine use of rhyme, and a light tender touch to a quite serious topic. I love most that without the authosr note, this becomes very enigmatic, and one can apply this to many situations, including leaving a relationship with another. I tend to like it with a sense of mystery, and more widely applied! That shows it is a really good poem.
