Her Face

by Joe Cramer

Her face reminded me of a face long ago,
A soft oval, sweetly framed that smiled.
(Though it was not a smile for me.)
I wonder if my sordid reputation preceded me
What type of initial impression I can make.
Her face reminds me of a love I once had,
Of a love that I have desired,
This love that I will never have again.
