I slipped
on the sea
wall above
the flooding
surging Tagus
and for a second
or two I stared
down into the
green swhirling
current seemingly
unable to prevent
my fall almost
feeling pulled
in stoically
powerless all
I remember
thinking were
not grand thoughts
on my life passing
as they say it does
before my eyes but
just this is this
how it will all end
I pulled back
from the brink
