Jimmy

by Genevieve Sturrock

a tender heart warring
with careless pride
tears and fears
spilling over
in the dark
under blankets
wrapped in loving arms
whispering secrets
and clinging
to the comfort
of the well know past

cocky confidence
and youthful swagger
dominate the daylight
fears forgotten
or perhaps just hidden
barely conceding
acknowledgment
of support
once needed
and blithely facing
the future
without concern

an unformed vessel
reflecting distorted images
melding features
and personalities
an eclectic mix
of the recognized
and alien
a dejavu of eyes
belonging to another
over lips that are
intimately familiar

a core of humor
bubbling to the surface
and further warping
those well known features
into the as yet
unknown
individual
evolving
inside

Awww...how cool. It's nice to see love bubbling over.

A very descriptive and loving look at one's child.
