All My Love (And Nine Years)

by Jacki M Butler

Nine years since we met
Since that first moment we shared
At the stables, riding the horses

Fifteen years old
We came to each other
You'd play my song

Seventeen years old
My prom date, best friend
I am over my head in love

Nineteen years old
You finally tell me you have feelings
You finally may want me

Twenty one years old
Back to friends
Dating other people

Twenty two years old
You're there when my heart is broken
Take care of me when I am sick

Twenty three years old
Tragedy strikes you move
Hundreds of miles from me

Twenty four years old
On my birthday
You finally tell me you love me

Took you one year to realize
The love I offer is pure and unconditional
Took you nine years to realize
That you feel the same way.

Author's Note: Justin - I have loved you since the moment I met you at 15. Although we've gone our seperate ways we always come back to one another. You are the love of my life, you always have been...so why'd it take you so long to get there.

A touch of humor to soften the reality of human love and its sometimes meandering path! You opened your heart and time has brought its desire!
