The Lover's Gaze

by Joe Cramer

The lover's gaze surpassing
Any tenderness ever felt.
Such a sweet, special gift shared
Surveyed in Botticelli's eyes.
These pools of infinite darkness
Always sharing, thus imploring
And yet pleading with me
To lie down in such soft, sweet pastures.
The iris born of your beautiful eye,
Deep pools of reverance for life
That send forth into the dark night,
Their rays of such soft white light.
I see the moon's glow in my love's eye
As its light liquifies my heart.
