Ode to Zen by Joe CramerThis way, that is no way,
That is somehow transfixed
No way into eternity.
This ying. This yang,
Leads to some futility
That is expressed in nothingness.
This is the way of my being,
And the way of my dharma path
That we all follow.
Whether we know it or not,
The best way is of course,
No way. 10/30/2006 Posted on 10/30/2006 Copyright © 2026 Joe Cramer

| Posted by Rusty C Arquette on 02/09/07 at 12:59 PM I've been a fringe devotee of Buddhist philosophy, starting with Zen back in the early 70's, for my lifetime. You've summed up the Zen concept with a wonderful Zen economy for words...well done! - Namaste - RCat |
| Posted by JD Clay on 02/09/07 at 02:54 PM The concept of all things through no thing is alive and well here in this sutra. I also find the oxymoronic title quite fascinating.
In the spirit of Zen, I congratulate no one. While paying no mind those not chosen Poem of the Day, I bow to Joe.

| Posted by Michelle Angelini on 02/10/07 at 01:49 AM Congratulations on POTD Joe. The yin and yang of life are the ebb and flow that balance the beauty and sadness and all things we know. The fact that the world is made up of so many different paths and facets makes it more interesting.

| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 02/10/07 at 08:00 AM Mmmmm, no way. I mean...yay. My favorite part is "The best way is of course, No way." --thinking of "course" in the sense of "way"--we have so many--wayless ways to consider, and of course, (pun intended) to follow none of them is the right way. I have in my own way, stepped off of all of them. I love zen. Good zen poem, by the way!
