cry my love

by Genevieve Sturrock

cry my love over spilt milk
weep for the waning light
i won't be home for dinner
for i must go to fight

i can't explain the pain i feel
at leaving you alone
but i want our child to live and grow
in a safe and happy home

although the war takes me far away
you're always on my mind
and when i return from hell my dear
your love i know i will find

cry my love over spilt milk
weep for the waning light
what's done is done my darling
and i must go to fight

Author's Note: my first song. written after reading an assignment in school. it's a conscripted soldier's letter to his new wife.

The theme to this poem is all too common with what's going on. I love the way you wove in tenderness and sadness. If this was for a poetry class, I hope you got an A+ on it.
